Lost Ownership of Google Sites Website

If you happen to lose ownership of your Google Sites website, there are a couple of ways to work toward having it restored:

Contact Another Owner

If your are not the only Owner assigned to your Google Sites website, your first course of action should be to contact the other site Owner(s).  They should be able to grant you the appropriate level of access to your site.

Contact Google

If your site has no other Owner(s), you should contact Google via the Google Sites User Forum.  You will need to post a new thread with a title and content similar this example:

Title:  Lost Site Ownership

Content:  I have lost ownership of my site at http://sites.google.com/site/example.  I am the only Owner.

It is important that you include the URL for your site - even if the site is not publicly accessible.  Without it, there is little that can be done to help resolve the problem.  (This is a good rule of thumb for any post to the Google Sites User Forum.)

If you logged into the user forum with a different account than the one you use to log into your website, it would be worth noting in your forum post.  You do not (and probably should not) need to post your actual email address in the forum.  The Google employee who contacts you regarding your issue should be able to contact you for that information.

Once you've posted your request to the forum, it will likely be escalated to a Google employee by one of the Google Sites Top Contributors.  From there, it will be up to the Google Sites team to address your issue.
